Psalm 2 struck me with its great relevance to the culture in which we live. Why do the nations rage against the Almighty and His Anointed? I would say because they don’t know any better. The first half of this Psalm paints a very clear picture of God’s wrath and God’s coming judgement.
The second half of this Psalm seems to take a bit of a turn. God’s judgement is still interwoven in the verses, but it seems like we are seeing a glimpse of God’s mercy with the last line. I would like to hear some discussion on this Psalm. It puzzles me a bit. Verse 12 says kiss the Son lest he be angry. This just seems to give me a bad taste… unless I am understanding it wrong. It makes the Son sound like a fickle and temperamental prince that needs to be shmoozed. What do you all think?
