There’s been a good deal of painting going on in my house right now. We’ve been working on getting everything ready for showing and selling the house. Today I walked too close to a corner with wet paint and got paint on my sleeve. “Ah crap,” I exclaimed. “Why do I try to ruin all my clothes?” I got some water and tried to rub it out. I was able to successfully fade it. What else could I do? Hopefully it wouldn’t be noticeable. I continued through my day and looked at my sleeve a little while ago and couldn’t find a trace of any paint! It’s as if it magically disappeared! That got me thinking about God. We brush against sin all the time, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and it leaves stains upon us. We do our best to rub them out, or hide them, hoping that they won’t be noticeable. That’s the best we can do as humans. But then God comes along and makes the stain disappear. There’s no trace left and you’d never know later that there was ever a stain. The next time I put on this shirt you’d never know I had rubbed my arm in paint and eventually, I’ll forget completely that it ever happened. God forgets your sin too. He doesn’t leave any trace of it on you. He makes you completely clean, if you let Him. So, grab yourself a “Jesus To Go” pen and keep it with you at all times in case you rub your sleeve in something.
